The version of the American dream has been, if you work hard through your through your life you'll be rewarded with freedom of CASH flow.  Freedom to us is separating ourselves from people to a point where we have total control of our life, and partial control of others.  I don't know about you, but I'd rather be connected with reality and have people around me than live in a box like the American with the fulfilled dream.

everybody has ways of stepping away from their everyday reality.  drugs, violence, concerts, vacations, sex, money, pampering; fuck it.  where is the sense of community?  just about time i bought a new life, and erased myself.  blindness sees nothing, but neither do our eyes.  our eyes see less even.  all i need is a sowing kit and some guts... naw, i still want vision.  i just don't want what comes with the package.
